At Anwomaso-High Tension in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region, a class four student tragically perished after being swept away by fast-moving water.
Residents claim that Agatha Oforiwaa, an 11-year-old girl, was carried away by flowing water after she slipped and fell while playing in a large bridge.
Opanin Agyei, the deceased child’s uncle, told Ghanatodayonline Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng that the girl was declared dead at the Emena Hospital on July 5, 2023, after locals discovered her body more than 200 meters away from the scene of the accident and rushed her there.
When the severe downpours on Tuesday evening stopped, Agatha and her pals were hanging out in the area and having fun.
“We were told that they were five friends playing together, but when they got home, four of them said that Agatha had fallen into the river and that everyone had tried in vain to find her.”
The following morning, after local leaders had poured libations, we returned and discovered her a few meters away.
He stated that the deceased’s body had been kept at the Emena hospital mortuary since then.
