The Minister for Works and Housing and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency Hon, Francis Asenso Boakye says 1,105 Ghanaians have benefited from the National rental assistance scheme since January 2023 still date.
The Minister today appears before parliament to answer parliamentary questions posed by Hon, Andrew Dari Chiwitey MP for Sawla Tuna/Kalba on, many people has benefited from the Rent assistance scheme and how much has been spent on them.
Responding to the question by the minister “since the scheme was launched in January 2023 to October 2023, a total of 1,105 Ghanaians from six operational Regions that is Greater Accra, Eastern, Western, Ashanti, Northern and Bono East have benefited from the Scheme” he said.
“Mr speaker 13,785,597 Ghana cedis has been disbursed to cover the rent advance for all 1,105 beneficiaries across the six operational regions” he further stated.
Hon Asenso Boakye assured the house of regular update in the spirit of transparency and accountability.
Reacting to the minister’s answer hon, Andrew Chiwitey said the house want to know much details concerning who the real beneficiaries are if they belong to the ruling party or not, the minister responded by saying it is based on qualification but not political affiliation.
