On Thursday, May 16, the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) reports that two rainstorms have been spotted approaching the nation via its weather monitoring station.

The Nigerian storm is expected to make landfall about 9:30 am, based on the forecast that was made public on Thursday morning.

Strong gusts, thunder, and heavy rains are expected to affect areas in the northern and coastal sectors.

“A rainstorm that is moderately producing thunderstorms with rain over northern Benin into Togo is expected to drift further westwards to affect the northern half of Ghana. However, a separate rainstorm observed over Nigeria is also expected to propagate westwards to affect the coastal and middle sectors of the country,” the statement read.

According to GMet, there is a significant chance of windstorms and floods, therefore those who live in locations that might flood should be prepared and take precautions.

A number of automobiles were destroyed and trees collapsed in numerous areas of Accra as a result of the recent intense downpour.

In the process, a few billboards were also damaged.
