On 14 March, a boy of about 20 years old is said to have hanged himself at Gaglokope, a Denu suburb in the Ketu South Municipality.

An jobless senior high school (SHS) graduate named Fabrice Woesah was discovered hanging from a dead tree limb with a yellow nylon rope around his neck. Woesah was the father of a prematurely born three-month-old child.

Bernice Ahorlete, a family source, informed Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the deceased appeared to have gone out to buy something on the day of the tragedy after fetching water.

She stated the deceased stayed out too late, thus his body was found after a search for him was conducted.

The report was confirmed by Israel Bossman, the Denu Assembly member, who stated that the police had subsequently placed the body in the morgue of Ketu South Municipal Hospital for preservation and autopsy in order to conduct more investigations.

Although the body showed no obvious signs of violence that would indicate foul play, it was found that the tongue was stretched out of the mouth and that the cervical vertebrae were shattered.

Bossman stated that he had a suspicion that the dead may have committed suicide due to financial difficulties because his partner, who was also unemployed, was hospitalized with their premature child at the time.

According to reports the deceased’s family had asked the police to stop investigating the case, allegedly for financial reasons. The police refused, and on Tuesday, March 18, they went to Agbozume District Court to request the coroner’s orders for a postmortem or otherwise.
