The People’s National Convention (PNC)’s Bernard Mornah and the People’s National Party (PNP)’s Janet Nabla have been officially disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) from running in the forthcoming December 7 presidential election.
The EC disclosed that the two candidates did not fulfill the legal prerequisites for their candidacies to be accepted in a statement released on Friday, September 20, 2024.
The declaration came after a thorough review of the nomination forms that presidential candidates turned in between September 9, 2024, and Friday, September 13, 2024.
The EC emphasized that the review procedure was carried out in compliance with the election regulations controlling the nomination process, even if it did not provide the precise grounds for the disqualification.
Concurrently, the EC attested to the fact that a number of other contenders for president had successfully completed all prerequisites and are qualified to run in the next election.
Desmond Abrefah, Kofi Asamoah Siaw (Progressive People’s Party), and Samuel Apea-Danquah were also disqualified by the EC.
Those who have been disqualified include Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, Nii Amu Darko, Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, and John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially approved 13 candidates to contest in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
