2024 Elections: Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin visits Asantehene

Speaker of the House of Representatives Alban Bagbin paid Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II a visit at his Kumasi palace to talk about measures to help the electoral process and guarantee free, fair, credible, and peaceful elections in December 2024.

Along with celebrating Father’s Day, the Asantehene hosted the visit.

In order to facilitate a smooth transition from the Eighth to the Ninth Parliament, Speaker Bagbin gave his recommendations.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II vowed to support and dedicate himself fully to the project, promising that he and other traditional leaders would take all lawful measures to maintain peace prior to, during, and following the elections.

He urged politicians, parties, and other interested parties to make an investment in informing voters about the electoral system and the value of multiparty democracy.

The Speaker’s idea to provide Parliament oversight authority over the executive branch was also reaffirmed by the King.
