Black Stars coach Otto Addo stated in a post-match interview following Friday, November 15, 2024, the 1:1 draw in Luanda, Angola, that he hoped to “beat [Niger] for our honor to at least get to third place.”

On Monday, November 18, 2024, Ghana hosted Niger at the Accra (Ohene Gyan) Sports Stadium, but things did not go as planned.

In the twentieth minute, Niger seized the lead. Ghana answered in the second half. Later, Niger took the lead again, and the draw was lost.

Kudus was awarded a penalty in the ninetieth minute, but he was unable to put it in. Even a draw, therefore, seemed elusive, Ghana lost 2:1.

The four-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champion from West Africa is the fourth and last team in Group F.

Ghana only managed three goals, three draws, and three losses throughout their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.

The Ghana Black Stars will not participate in the AFCON tournament, which will take place in Morocco in 2025, for the first time in 20 years.
