A young woman has passed away after reportedly being poisoned by a man who was interested in her following a disagreement over GH¢100 at Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The individual who passed away has been named as 23-year-old Theresa Darkoah.
Her purported boyfriend, Kofi Emma, widely known as Blackee, is reported to have poisoned her after she declined to repay money he had previously provided to her.
A close friend of the victim, who talked to the press, revealed information about the circumstances surrounding Theresa’s death.
She mentioned that she had been familiar with Theresa, known as Afia, for quite some time, and they collaborated. She claimed that the suspect had shown interest in Theresa before, but Theresa had distinctly stated that her feelings were not reciprocal.
The situation allegedly intensified when the suspect requested to see her. Theresa reportedly informed him that her standing fan was broken and that she couldn’t accommodate him due to the heat. She then requested that he send GH¢100 for repairing the fan prior to his visit.
She verified that the suspect provided Theresa GH¢100 to repair her fan and subsequently requested a refund after she did not respond to his calls. The friend claimed the man warned he would kill Theresa if the money wasn’t paid back.
She mentioned that she attempted to soothe him and guaranteed him that the money would be returned. Nevertheless, he called a second time, continuing to insist on the payment and ignoring any responses.
Soon after, Theresa reached out to her friend, expressing discomfort with heart pains and feeling ill. She was quickly taken to the hospital on a motorcycle but passed away soon after getting there.
The friend further revealed that the suspect had earlier said that if he did not come himself, he would send someone.
It turned out later that Theresa had received medication. Her consumption of a toxic drug was later verified by hospital staff.
Police have started a manhunt to apprehend the culprit, who is presently at large.
