Three Indian nationals were arrested by the Ghana Gold Board and National Security for illegally selling gold in Anyinam, Eastern Region.
Gold bars, vast quantities of cash, and money-counting devices were among the things recovered during the operation, and the police picked up the suspects.
After three further Indian nationals were arrested on April 29, 2024, this puts the total number of foreigners arrested for unlawful gold trade to six.
The Ghana Gold Board’s Head of Public Relations, Prince Minkah, stated that the three accused will be prosecuted.
Foreign nationals were to leave Ghana’s gold trading sector, according to an earlier announcement by the Ghana Gold Board, which is currently working to ensure that the rules are followed.
“The suspects will be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction to face the full rigor of the law,” Mr. Minkah stated.
