In a shootout with the police at Aroma Junction, a suburb of Obosomase-Akuapem in the Eastern Region, three people believed to be armed robbers were murdered.
Four members of a gang engaged the police in a shootout; three were killed and one was taken into custody.
Only Ahwireng, Akroma, and Elisha, all of whom were residents of the town, were listed as the names of the deceased.
According to reports, Ahwireng and Akroma are both ex-offenders.
The target of their robbery fear may not yet be known, but local reports suggest that the police may have pursued them out of Accra, where they had committed the crime.
Some locals said that when they arrived to the location around 7 a.m. on Tuesday after hearing gunshots, they discovered the three lying in a pool of blood.
The identification of the suspect being held by the police has not yet been determined.
