Today, January 24, 2023, has seen the arraignment of the 40 students who were detained in connection with commotions at the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational Institute.
The students, who went on a rampage and destroyed school property on Sunday, were apprehended by the police.
While police and other interested parties continue their investigations into the event, the Ashanti Regional Security Council has temporarily closed the institution.
Heavy police escorts were present when suspects in the Krobea Asante incidents entered in court.
Although the cause of the disruptions is unclear, officials claim that the action may be related to the students’ apparent unhappiness with their predecessors’ unsatisfactory results on their final examinations.
Around one in the morning on Sunday, the rioting students knocked off the school’s electricity, started a protest, torched important buildings, and even attacked the principal’s apartment.
During the demonstration, the kids also ransacked the school’s food storage areas, scattering everything within.
A committee will be formed to look into the most recent disruptions.
Following a meeting of the District Security Council, the Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, revealed this.
