At North Suntreso in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region, a 43-year-old commercial driver is said to have killed himself due to financial difficulties.
In his own bathroom, Kwabena Owusu, the dead, hung himself with a sponge, according to the residents.
Vida Pokuaa, the deceased’s wife, told OTEC News Reporter Nana Akwasi Acheampong that the tragic event happened on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 7:30 p.m.
Before the event, she said, she had a regular talk with her husband. She said that she was surprised to see him hanging in the bathroom a short while after.
“I was going to the bathroom when I saw my husband hanging, I tried to get him out of the hanging sponge but he was too heavy for me so I rushed out for help, unfortunately he was already gone when I got help from some passerby”
Meanwhile, a few neighbors disclosed that the now-deceased father of five had been grumbling about financial difficulties since he lost his work.
They went on to say that they believe he may have committed the act due to financial difficulty.
