Nomination forms for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Manhyia South Constituency have been picked by five people, including the brother of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo.
The five candidates picked their nominations on the first day of the nominations opening: Mr. Kwasi Koka Gyambibi, Kwabena Amankwa Antwi, Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour, Mr. Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, brother of Napo and James Boakye.
On Sunday, July 13, the NPP will have its primaries with the goal of choosing a candidate to run for general elections in 2024.
In addition to promising a free and fair election process, Danquah Smith-Buttey, the NPP’s first vice chairman, advised potential candidates to watch what they say and emphasize that this is an internal matter.
He mentioned that the filing fee for aspirants is GH¢35,000, while females, young people under 40, and individuals with physical disabilities must pay GH¢17,500.
In an interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng, Secretary for the Manhyia South Constituency Haruna Alhasan disclosed that nominations will end on Wednesday, with vetting and voting to follow.
He mentioned that this Sunday is the main primary.
