A 54-year-old laborer has appeared before an Adentan Circuit Court on charges that he violated a juvenile over 21 times in Adamborobe, in the Greater Accra Region.
Philip Jumpa, who is being detained for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old student, has refuted the accusation.
He was granted bail in the amount of GHC200,000 with three sureties by the court presided over by Mrs. Sedinam Awo Balokah.
Jumpa is required by court order to report to the police every Wednesday.
Additionally, the prosecution was instructed to submit disclosures and serve them on the defendant and his attorney two days before to the next adjourned date.
On December 21, the accused is anticipated to reappear.
The complainant is a merchant who is now living in Amrahia with the victim, a class four student, according to Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, who served in the capacity of Chief Superintendent of Police Patience Mario.
According to the prosecution, Jumpa shared an apartment in Adamborobe with the victim’s father.
Jumpa allegedly began making approaches toward the woman in April 2021 by smacking her buttocks, and she told Jumpa’s wife about it.
It claimed that the victim was assured by the accused’s wife that Jumpa was only playing with her.
Following that, according to the prosecution, Jumpa reportedly always seduced the victim and had intercourse with her whenever family members weren’t home.
Jumpa allegedly threatened to murder her if she revealed the sexual act to anybody.
According to the prosecution, the victim kept the incident to herself as a result of the threaAccording to the report, the victim fell ill in December 2021 and was taken to the Dodowa Government Hospital by the accused’s wife.
According to the prosecution, the victim traveled from Adamborobe to the complainant’s home in Amrahia in September 2022 and had unpleasant vaginal discharges once more.
She was allegedly taken to a hospital by the complainant, where it was discovered that she had been sexually molested.
It said that when a report was made to the Oyibi police, the suspect was taken into custody, warned, and given bail.
According to the prosecution, the case docket was moved to Adenta’s Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit on November 10, 2022, for additional investigation.
According to the report, the victim admitted to the police during questioning that Jumpa had slept with her over 21 times.
The medical report, according to the prosecution, revealed that the vulva was normal, the introitus was significantly open, the hymen was torn, healed, and partially eroded, there was foul-smelling discharge, the area around the anus showed healed bruises with redness, and there was vaginal and anal penetration.
