The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced provisional numbers indicating that 18, 772,795 legal voters are anticipated to cast ballots in the general elections scheduled for December.
There are 9,690,173 females and 9,082,622 men within this total.
In addition, 708,282 new voters have been added to the electoral record in preparation for the elections in December, according to the statistics.
Furthermore, 2,167 proxy voters, 32,974 applicants on the exceptions list, 26,798 applicants on the multiples list, and 332,110 transferred voters are included.
In the meantime, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa said that the commission had mainly corrected inaccuracies in the voter registration during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra on Tuesday, October 1.
Mensa addressed criticism leveled at the register, emphasizing that it is not definitive and admitting that certain flaws still exist.
She gave stakeholders the reassurance that the EC is working hard to fix these mistakes, which are normal in any registration procedure.
