The death of a 74-year-old British national in Ghana has led to the murder accusation of Pearl Agbomadzi, a 20-year-old interior decorator.
As per the case’s summary facts, on August 2, 2024, the dead John Scott Hughes contacted the accused to arrange a meeting at American House. Following that, they went to Philipo’s Movie House, a well-known entertainment destination in East Legon.
subsequently Mr. Scott Hughes made reservations for room 7 for both himself and Pearl, who the prosecution said was his girlfriend. The two watched a pornographic film together and then had a consenting personal session.
The 74-year-old British national, however, lost consciousness during the tense encounter and collapsed on their room’s floor, according to the prosecution.
The 20-year-old hurried to the receptionists for assistance after spotting danger and telling them about her lover’s health. Mr. Scott Hughes was then taken to the Legon hospital after the police were summoned.
However, the facility’s on-duty medical officer declared him dead. The deceased’s wife is the complainant in this case.
John Baptist Ayedze, the accused’s attorney, petitioned for bail for his client, who has since been in police detention, in the High Court on Thursday, October 24.
The bail request was not opposed by the prosecution, which was led by Assistant State Attorney Frederick Adu Gyamfi.
Lydia Osei Marfo, the presiding judge, then set a bail of GHC 100,000 with a surety.
She advised older men to exercise caution in their sexual life and refrain from pursuing younger women, whom she said may be dangerous because of their age gap, in her concluding remarks.
