In response to a widely shared video showing a police officer pulling a suspect to the ground during an arrest at Dadease, close to Kumawu in the Ashanti Region, the police have opened an investigation.
The officer in question has been taken into custody and then detained pending the conclusion of the appropriate legal process.
The Inspector-General of Police(IGP) sent a team from the Ashanti North Regional Police Command to speak with the victim’s relatives in light of ongoing investigations.
Additionally, he personally called the victim’s mother to assure her that the event would be thoroughly and completely investigated.
The video footage has sparked debate and brought attention to how law enforcement personnel behave during arrests.

The Police have commenced investigation into a viral video in which a Police officer is seen dragging a suspect on the floor during an arrest at Dadease, near Kumawu in the Ashanti Region.
The said Police officer was detained and has been interdicted and will be taken through the due process of the law.
As investigation continues, the Inspector-General of Police yesterday sent a team from the Ashanti North Regional Police Command to engage the victim’s family. He has also spoken to the victims mother via the telephone and assured her of a thorough investigation into the matter.
