At Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region, the Juaboso MP Kwabena Mintah Akando was engaged in a nearly fatal car accident.
On the boundaries of Atwima Mponua township, the Ranking Member of the Parliament’s Health Committee was returning from his constituency when his official car struck head-on with an approaching Sprinter bus headed from Kumasi to Sefwi Yiawso.
The accident happened on Saturday about 18:05 when the driver of the MP blew a tire on the front passenger side while attempting to pass a car in front of him.
Before striking the approaching bus, it rushed into its lane.
The NDC MP’s vehicle, with license plate GN 441-14, and the Sprinter, with license plate AS 7363-18, were both damaged in the collision.
According to Barima Oduro of Still Waters Radio, many of the occupants of the Sprinter Bus suffered serious injuries.
Those who were hurt were taken to the Nyinahini Government Hospital for treatment with the aid of the Ambulance Service, police, and National Fire Service personnel.
The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has been recommended for Mr. Akandoh, his driver, and his security detail.
They are being added to the list of numerous other accident victims who were passengers.
