For the third consecutive month, Ghana’s inflation rate increased, rising to a new high of 43.1% in July from the previous figure of 42.5%. On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, government statistician Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim released the most recent data.
Food costs increased significantly, reaching 55.0%, while inflation for non-food items was 33.8%.
In releasing the Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures for July 2023, Professor Annim stressed the importance of combining financial aid with real-sector reforms in order to successfully manage this inflationary tendency.
