According to Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the minority group in Parliament is collaborating with President Akufo-Addo to rescue and save the Ghanaian economy and, more crucially, to prevent Ghana from entering a situation similar to that of Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the conclusion of a recent workshop held by the Minority Caucus in the Volta region, Haruna Iddrisu noted that the nation is moving in the wrong direction and that action must be taken to turn it around.

He said that in order to prevent a Ghanaian version of the Sri-Lanka crisis, his side of the house and President Akufo-administration Addo’s would cooperate.

The Tamale South MP also reaffirmed the Minority’s allegations that, in defiance of the EC’s position, the EC is trying to make the Ghana Card the only criteria for voter registration ahead of the election in 2024.

A constitutional instrument (CI) that the electoral commission is attempting to propose to Parliament was also mentioned by the Tamale South MP.

He urged the EC not to take any actions that would cause the country to become unstable since, contrary to what the EC wants the people to believe, the draft CI will make the Ghana Card the only criteria for registration.
