The allegations in the leaked audio tape and the ensuing developments, according to Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare, have caused a great deal of sorrow to his family and loved ones.

According to COP Mensah, a former director general (technical) of the Ghana Police Service, morale is currently poor because most employees are dissatisfied with the Inspector General of Police’s leadership style.

IGP Dampare is a terrible manager, but COP Mensah, who spoke before a legislative committee of inquiry on Thursday (31 August), insisted that he is not planning to remove him from office.

“Those wild allegations without a shred of evidence have brought a lot of pain to myself, my family across the country, and especially my wife and children,” Dampare said when it was his turn to speak during the committee hearing on Tuesday, September 12.

“A pain also to my command, my leaders. My team that we work together and a pain to the thousands of police officers who appreciate the strides we are making in transforming the organisation to be the best institution in the country and the reference point for the rest of the world,” Dampare said.

The parliamentary committee is looking into a recording of conversations between three police officers and Daniel Bugri Naabu, the former northern regional chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), discussing the potential removal of the IGP.
