The government would expeditiously fix all problematic roads in the area before the year is over, according to Hon. Nii Lartey Ollenu, the Chief Executive for the Amansie West District.
He claimed that the government is aware of how poor the road system is and has given them a construction contract as a result.
He exclusively disclosed to the media that a contract had been won for the construction of the road that runs from Anwia Nkwanta to Mmem Junction and on to the nearby Amansie South route, and that work is presently being done at Datano.
He claimed that Antoakrom to Pakyi 2 has been designated as a key access route and that the government is putting the finishing touches on all required paperwork so that it may be placed on contract.
The Ghana Private Road Transport Union’s commercial drivers protested on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, and the Chief Executive responded by making the statements above in response to their complaints.
The drivers stated in their news release that the district’s residents are suffering greatly due to the district’s poor road conditions.
“Potholes, uneven road surface and water logging have become a common sight, making it difficult for commuters to navigate their way through”, they stated.
“This is not only endangering the safety of neighborhood residents, travelers, and drivers, but it is also impeding the district’s entire growth.
They continued by saying that the state of the road system has contributed to an increase in armed robberies and traffic accidents.
However, the DCE asked them to be patient because all required steps had already been implemented to deal with the situation.
