NPP reacts to Alan’s resignation

The former trade and industry minister Alan Kyerematen’s decision to leave the party has been characterized as unfortunate by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NPP’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, advised the party’s membership to be calm pending a formal address on the resignation in a press statement dated September 25, 2023.

“The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken notice of the unfortunate decision of Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, a long-standing member of the party to forfeit his membership and contest as an independent presidential candidate in the 2024 general election,” Mr. Kodua Frimpong stated.

On Monday, September 25, Alan Kyerematen publicly announced his departure from the NPP at a news conference held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel. He declared his ambition to form the Movement for Change and run as an Independent Candidate in the 2024 elections.
