A man was seen actively taking part in the #OccupyBoG protest while sporting a T-shirt bearing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) logo.
The Bank of Ghana’s governor has been under fire for what some opposition voices have called mismanagement of the institution, and this has drawn a lot of attention to the protest, which has focused on the economy and the central bank.
The organization wants the governor of the central bank, Dr. Ernest Addison, and his two vice governors, Drs. Maxwell Opoku-Afar and Elsie Addo Awadzi, to retire.
However, the appearance of someone who was openly exhibiting his support for the government’s NPP generated questions and conversations about the level of public awareness about the concerns brought up.
The individual, whose identity is unknown, made a political-agnostic visual statement by sporting a T-shirt featuring Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawuia and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The man was waving a placard in his hands that read, “Vote NPP out, they are stealing our future.”
The #OccupyBoGProtest aims to address a variety of concerns regarding the Central Bank and the problems facing the country’s economy.
The BoG Governor is being accused by minority party lawmakers of mismanaging the state’s finances and should resign from his position as head of the central bank as a result.
