Afriyie Akoto, the prospective flag bearer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his hurt over the resignation of former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen from the NPP.
The former trades minister left the NPP in order to run as an independent for president in the 2024 elections.
In addition, Mr. Kyerematen charged that the party intimidated Mr. Kyerematen’s followers and tainted the process in favor of one candidate on August 26, 2023, when the party’s super delegates met.
The flag-bearer candidate commented on the development on Starr Chat, saying that politics is about numbers and that each party member matters.
“We are in politics and politics is about numbers. It doesn’t matter the stature of the person. It could be the youth organizer of MA Primary School Polling Station. If he turns his back on us I am equally hurt as any member so for me it’s just unfortunate.
He claims that when he learns that NPP supporters are defecting, he is not pleased.
However, the former Agric Member is confident that the NPP will triumph in the general elections of 2024. “To bring the 8 the next year, we need every soul. We will break the 8 without a doubt.
