Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, a member of parliament for Bantama and minister of works and housing, has provided financial assistance to a young woman in his constituency who has begun small-scale poultry farming.

The young and inexperienced businesswoman, who previously worked as a teacher in a Kumasi private school, is pleased that she now has enough money to grow her poultry farm and start a true farming business.

According to Ms. Elizabeth Boakye, the monthly wage she received as a private school teacher did not allow her to adequately provide for her children, which is why she decided to start a small-scale poultry farm.

The former teacher is highly optimistic that investing the 5,000 Ghana Cedis (Ghc 5,000) that she received from her MP into her agricultural company will help her optimize profit and be better able to provide for her students and herself.

She conveyed her deepest gratitude for the nice act to Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye.

”I am dumbfounded…I called Chief(MP) late in the night and appealed to him for financial support to expand a small poultry farm I have started, and shockingly he asked me to come to his office the following day, I came, and he has given me the exact amount I needed. I am so happy. May God bless him and give him long life. Now, I know I can do better poultry business and be able to cater for my children and myself”, Elizabeth stated.

As the Nana Akufo-Addo administration works to entice more young people into the agricultural sector, Hon. Asenso-Boakye, Minister for Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Bantama, stated that he was struck by the fact that a lady was exhibiting interest in agribusiness.

He suggested to Madam Elizabeth Boakye that she use the funds for the intended use. In order for her to be able to hire another young person to work in the company in the coming days, he further instructed her to work hard to grow her business with the money she received.

Young entrepreneurs in the Bantama constituency have received a variety of such supports to help them grow their companies, according to Bantama MP Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye.

”Some youth in shoe making, hairdressing, fashion design and other private businesses have benefitted similar support from my office. I will continue to support my people as long as I get the means”, Hon.  Asenso-Boakye explained.
