Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah, the National Coordinator of the School Feed Program, has departed from this planet.

It is said that she passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah, the CEO of Ambar Quality Foods Limited, was born on February 1, 1960, in Dzelukope, Keta, in the Volta Region. She was not only well-known in the hospitality industry but also made a major impact on the food sector in Ghana.

Her late husband Major Courage E. K. Quashigah (Rtd) was a former minister in the Kufuor administration.

After completing her studies at Keta Secondary Senior High School, she decided to continue her education in the sector of her choice.

The Ghana School Feeding Program achieved significant progress in guaranteeing that children nationwide had access to wholesome meals under the direction of Mrs. Quashigah.

The initiative sought to improve students’ general health and well-being in addition to increasing enrollment, attendance, and retention in the school.

In May 2021, Gertrude Quashigah lost her job as the Ghana School Feeding Program’s national coordinator.

At that time, she received a letter from the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection requesting that she turn over any official records or property under her control to the ministry’s chief director.
The letter dated May 18, 2021 gave no explanation for her departure.

The ruling was later overturned by President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo.
