According to Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff and Chair of the Interministerial Committee on Floods, the government has already spent GHc40 million providing aid to those affected by the Akosombo-Kpone Dam Spillage.
She claims that this payment is a component of the initiatives to lessen the impact of the spill on the different impacted communities.
Speaking to the reporters at the information ministry, she reaffirmed the government’s pledge to provide more funding to help the victims.
According to Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, 42,526 students were impacted by the spill.
Additionally, 121 schools and 1,561 instructors in those localities were impacted.
He mentioned that because of the extent of the damage, the government has delayed the reopening of St. Kizito School.
As a result, he declared that his organization had purchased replacement textbooks for the impacted schools.
Additionally, Mr. Antwi Darkwa, CEO of the Volta River Authority (VRA), disclosed that no lives were lost as a result of the spillage.
