Mr. Emmanuel Wilson Junior, the Chief Crusader of the Crusaders Against Corruption, has recommended that Kissi Agyebeng humbly resign from his role as Special Prosecutor.

Mr. Wilson Jr. asserts that it is critical to take this audacious action in order to preserve the remnants of Mr. Kissi Agyebeng’s fading reputation.

Wilson Jr.’s statement comes after yet another failed attempt by the special prosecutor to prove a state criminal case, leading to an unnecessary pursuit of cases.

In a recent decision, the Accra High Court struck down a report that accused Joseph Adu Kyei, a former deputy commissioner of the division, and Colonel Kwadwo Damoah, a former commissioner of the customs division at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), of using their positions to give favorable tax treatment to Labianca Company Limited, a frozen food company.

In November 2022, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was sued by Colonel Damoah and Mr. Kyei, the two accused individuals, who claimed that the OSP’s report was unjustified and had damaged their reputations.

In its decision on Monday, November 27, 2023, the Accra High Court also ordered the OSP to pay GH₵10,000 and issued a restraining order, which stops the OSP from looking into the two individuals in question any further.

On the other hand, the OSP claimed in a press release that same day that it handled the issue within the parameters of its mandate and never went beyond what was necessary.

The OSP also disapproved of the court’s ruling in its entirety.

Emmanuel Wilson Junior, the Chief Crusader of the Crusaders Against Corruption, has said that the decision is a smack in the face to the OSP, which has yet to win any cases.

In an interview on Tuesday, November 28, Mr. Wilson Jr. said that the OSP was created to demonize “innocent people on behalf of paymasters” on Class 91.3 FM’s premier news show, 505.

Thus, he prayed that Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor now serving, would leave “the mess” in the same manner that Martin Amidu, the Special Prosecutor before him, had.
