On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the majority party’s members of parliament staged a walkout during the sessions to adopt the 2024 budget.

Following the conclusion of the budgetary debate, Speaker of the House Alban Bagbin called for a voice vote on whether to adopt or reject the policy proposal.

The Speaker’s decision that the 2024 budget had been passed by a majority voice vote was contested by the minority MPs, who demanded a head count.

The majority of MPs did not agree with this decision and left the house.

On November 15, 2023, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta gave a presentation of the 2024 budget policy document before Parliament.

After then, the MPs debated the paper in turn.

Today’s closing statements were delivered by Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and Minority Leader Dr. Ato Forson.
