The potential recovery of the Ghanaian economy has garnered the strong confidence of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

He provided evidence for the upbeat forecast by pointing to favorable economic indicators, such as this year’s notable decline in inflation from 54% to 35%, a slight depreciation of the value of the dollar of roughly 6%, and a doubling of projected growth from 1.5% to roughly 3%.

The Finance Minister voiced optimism that Ghanaians would have a better 2024.

He did, however, acknowledge the difficulties in making major progress in a four-year term, raising doubts about the viability of major achievements in a constrained amount of time. He also emphasized the necessity of capable leadership, citing Vice President Bawumia as an appropriate choice for this position.

Vice President Bawumia has been identified as the person with the capable hands to steer the nation’s economic trajectory. The Finance Minister is of the belief that persistent hard work will result in a much stronger economy.

“Last year, inflation was 54%, now reduced drastically to 35%. Depreciation of the currency from February to now is about only 6%. We were expecting economic Growth to be 1.5 but has doubled to about 3%. So if we continue to work hard, I am very sure that we will have a much stronger economy and Bawumia is the only one who can take it forward. I honestly can’t see anybody coming in for four years and having the capacity to be able to take us where we want to go. 2024 will be better for Ghanaians,” Mr. Ofori-Atta stated.

“I am very sure. I am very confident that the economy will turn around. It is difficult for me to understand how anybody can do much in four years. That is just a reality of the situation and therefore when you have economic challenges the question is, as you believe we have turned the corner and we are moving ahead, I think those able hands are needed and Bawumia should be able to do that,” This was stated by Ken Ofori-Atta during a media interview held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Kyebi.

The Finance Minister highlighted the significance of maintaining unity within the NPP to ensure victory in the upcoming election and end the eight-year cycle, citing President Akufo Addo’s impressive scorecard.
