The leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has claimed that under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, every sector in Ghana is currently in distress and collapsing.

During his Building Ghana tour, the former President spoke to the Chief and people of Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North, emphasizing how urgently the NDC needs to step in and save the country from what he sees as the worsening situation under the ruling NPP.

Under Akufo-Addo’s direction, Mahama expressed his concern that Ghana is regressing, and he contended that the current government has completely failed to improve the lot of Ghanaians over the previous seven years.

“Every sector in the country is under distress, I have said before that the development of a nation is like a baton race but unfortunately, the baton I handed over to Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia fell along the way. So we [NDC] have to come back, pick the baton and continue the race.

He emphasized the need for experienced leadership, stating, “It is time for someone with experience, someone who has done the work before, it is time for the real men in Ghana to return and pick up the baton and continue the race and that is why the NDC has selected me to return and continue the good works we started.”

According to former president John Dramani Mahama, the name of his running mate for the general elections in 2024 will be announced in February of that same year.

After restating his earlier statement that he cannot choose his vice presidential candidate for the general elections of 2024, he said this.

In accordance with the NDC’s constitution, he says, the flagbearer, the council of elders, and the functional executive committee (FEC) must get together, go over the list of potential candidates, and select one.
