The West Africa Examination Council has released the preliminary results of candidates who took the 2023 Ghana Only Version of the WASSCE for school candidates (WAEC).

In a press release dated December 18, 2023, WAEC stated that it will provide school heads with login credentials so they can view the results of their candidates.

According to WAEC’s performance statistics, these represent the best outcomes over the previous four years, from 2020 to 2023.

Candidates who wish to do so can view their results on the Council website as the results have been made available online.

4,878 candidates’ results have been blocked because they did not return learning support materials that were provided to them by their schools; WAEC advised these candidates to get in touch with their respective schools.

All of WAEC’s stakeholders have been advised to be on the lookout for con artists claiming to be able to improve results for a fee.

“Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated using its results verification system. The WAEC QR code can be downloaded and used to verify results.”

In an explanation, WAEC stated that 3,647 candidates’ subject results had been canceled because they had brought printed materials, text books, and prepared notes into the testing rooms.

Furthermore, 839 candidates’ entire results have been nullified due to their possession of cell phones during the exam.

For a variety of suspected offenses, the full results of 1,005 candidates and the subject results of 4,280 candidates have been withheld.

A total of 448,674 candidates from 975 schools took the exam, comprising 212,453 men and 236,221 women.

This number is 5.8% greater than the 422,883 entry figure for 2022.
