In the Ashanti and Eastern Regions, the Electoral Commission (EC) schedules to hold District Level Elections (DLEs) in about 40 districts.
This follows the Eastern Region and portions of the Ashanti Region’s DLEs being postponed.
The elections are scheduled for this Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Voter errors found on ballots, distribution hold-ups, and Biometric Verification Device (BVD) malfunctions were all blamed for the first delay.
A number of parties, such as the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), voiced their dissatisfaction with the difficulties they faced during Tuesday, December 19, the national DLEs.
CODEO called the problems regrettable and asked the EC to make sure that future polls would go more smoothly.
The group chastised the EC for alleged neglect of its responsibilities.
The EC received a strong warning from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to repeat technical difficulties in the polls scheduled for 2024.
The party emphasized the significance of averting unpleasant incidents in future elections and urged the EC to prevent a recurrence of the problems encountered during the DLEs.
