At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, January 4, 2024, representatives of Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the National Sports Authority (NSA) discussed the upcoming interschool football competition in the region.
During the meeting, the GES team was led by Suleiman Yeboah, Chairman of the Ashanti Sports Federation, and the NSA team was led by Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, Regional Director of the NSA.
The facility’s release to GES for the competition has been approved by the Director General of the Authority in accordance with the NSA’s primary mandate to develop and promote sports.
It was decided that, in light of the Black Stars’ 2023 AFCON preparations, GES would promptly reschedule the games’ scheduled dates.
GES together with NSA at the meeting agreed that, the 2024 inter school soccer will be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium between January 11 & 18, 2024.
The NSA & GES also agreed that, the Green Popular Stand of the stadium shall not be used during the games in bid to control the students and fans who will throng the stadium.
Both parties assured each other of a continued smooth working relationship to guarantee the successful organization of the games.
NSA will plead with GES, the students and sporting public to handle the properties of the facility with care in order to avoid any breakages as witnessed in previous competitions.
