The desire to break and set new Guinness World Records has increased dramatically among West Africans, including Ghanaians, in recent times.
People are showcasing an unheard-of passion for pushing boundaries in the region through everything from epic cook-a-thons to soul-stirring sing-a-thons.
Afua Asantewaa of Ghana, Hilda Baci of Nigeria, and Chef Faila of Nigeria are among the notable record attempts that have contributed to the increasing fervor for breaking records.
Ghana has been the country of record applicants, according to data from the Guinness World Record.
355 applications from individuals in Ghana alone have been received since July 2023, indicating a notable increase in record-breaking aspirations.
They claim that the spike was especially noticeable in December 2023, when 251 applications were received, and that this momentum persisted into January 2024, when 80 more applications have been received so far.
