On education, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would build more E-blocks for senior high schools (SHSs) to encourage more admissions, according to the John Dramani Mahama the 2024 flagbearer.
He also promised to upgrade Ohawu Agricultural College into an agricultural university, to the deafening loud applause from the massive crowd.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama has stated that the NDC will take over the sick economy that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) created, and that it will take a team effort to fix.
As a result, he urged Ghanaians to temper their expectations when the NDC takes power the following year.
As part of his two-day tour of the Volta Region, Mr. Mahama gave a speech on Friday at a town hall meeting in Ho.
“We will open the books for you to see how ailing the economy is before we all agree on what path to take to repair the damages,” he added.
In the interest of the country as a whole, Mr. Mahama announced that the Office of the President would have fewer employees and that the assemblies would have more authority to carry out their various responsibilities, such as collecting property taxes.
He clarified that the assemblies would be able to carry out their own development projects and enhance social services thanks to the property rates.
According to the former president, the NDC would actively include the public in national development plans and was dedicated to achieving popular desires.
He talked briefly about intra-city transportation options and restated the NDC’s position in favor of legalizing and controlling the use of tricycle taxis (also known as “Mahama Can Do”) in urban areas.
According to Mr. Mahama, doing so would guarantee that their business was insured and that they operated in far safer circumstances.
He claimed that in the interim, the NDC would increase the appeal of agriculture through the use of greenhouses, irrigation plans, large-scale mechanized farming, and farmer cooperatives.
When Mr. Mahama paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional House of Chiefs earlier in the day, he declared that the NDC would invest in the tourism industry, which held great potential for the region and would capitalize on the region’s comparative advantage in tourism.
In order to support the ECOWAS trade liberalization program along the frontier, he declared that the NDC would vigorously pursue a plan to construct a modern market in the border town of Aflao.
