A motorbike accident on the Assin Adadientem-Andoe road in the Central Region claimed the life of a 37-year-old teacher at Assin Abodweseso D/A Primary School.
Two more people were critically injured in the accident.
On Monday, January 29, 2024, at around 7 p.m., the incident occurred.
Reports indicate that the deceased, Isaac Arthur, and a pillion rider were riding in the direction of Assin Adadientam when they were struck head-on by an Okada rider who was coming from the other direction.
After the accident victims were taken to the hospital by officers from the Assin South District Police Command, medical staff at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu declared the teacher dead.
Both the pillion rider and the Okada rider are presently receiving medical care at the same facility after suffering serious head, jaw, and leg injuries.
Witnesses have attributed the frequent accidents along the stretch to motorbike riders’ excessive speeding.
The deceased’s family is feeling reflective as a result of the development.
Richard Oboh, a teacher who ran in the most recent district assembly elections, is said to have left behind a wife and four children, a family member told the media.
