Dr. Da Costa Aboagye, the Director of Health Promotion for the Ghana Health Service, has been named by President Akufo-Addo as the new Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, who has been nominated as the Minister of Health, will relinquish his position.
According to a letter from the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, the appointment is made in accordance with Section 14 (1) of the National Health Insurance Act, 2012 (Act 852).
“Pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Authority given in consultation with the Public Services Commission,” he states, Dr. Da Costa Aboagye’s appointment is on hold.
“Kindly indicate your acceptance or otherwise of this appointment within 14 days of receipt of this letter. Please accept the President’s best wishes,” portions of the letter dated 26th February 2024.
