On behalf of the Ghanaian government and people, President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has formalized engagements in the fields of education, health, and mining under the Bi-National Commission.

In the words of the President, the accords and understandings established will surely pave the way for cooperative endeavors that will benefit not only South Africa and Ghana but the entire African continent.

He stated in his concluding remarks that the two nations “have explored opportunities to hold political consultations in order to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, bolster trade and investment, advance transport exchanges and technological innovations, and address issues of mutual concern.”

“One remarkable achievement is the implementation of the Agreement on Visa Waiver for holders of ordinary passports. The diversity of our discussions is a testament to the breadth of our relationship and the potential for mutual growth that lies ahead, he told the gathering of Ministers and high-level representatives of both countries.

He went on to say that the two nations have discovered new fields of cooperation in which we can each take advantage of our unique advantages to promote innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development. Together, we can open up new doors for the good of our people, generate employment, and advance the prosperity of our continent as a whole.

While applauding the efforts of the individual implementation committees thus far, he also recognized that more work needed to be done in order to finalize unsigned Memoranda of Understanding and Agreements and to put the signed ones into effect.

He emphasized the persistent spirit of cooperation and partnership that has characterized the meetings throughout, hoping for the essence of ongoing solidarity “shared commitment to prosperity, security and mutual respect to guide our efforts towards a bright future for generations to come.”

It will be recalled that since the Inaugural Session of the Bi-National Commission, in December 2021, the two countries have made remarkable strides towards the attainment of the objectives we have set for ourselves.
