Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia stated that the National Identification Authority (NIA) will shortly begin a nationwide registration drive for school-age children.
The action is a component of the government’s endeavor to create an exhaustive national database on Ghanaians.
At the official inauguration of the “Ghana Card number at birth” project on Thursday, March 14, at the Ga North Hospital at Ofankor in Accra, Bawumia made the announcement.
“Very soon an announcement will be made for the launch of the registration of all our school children from ages of five to 15.”
“When that is done, Ghana will have a very complete database, everybody will be registered on the NIA database,” Bawumia stated.
