This year’s MoMo Month celebrations have officially begun in Accra, Kumasi, and Mankessim thanks to MobileMoney Limited (MTN MoMo), which wants to emphasize how crucial partnerships are for accelerating digital payments.
The emphasis of this year’s celebration will be on the possibilities MoMo offers and how stakeholders may use the digital payments industry to aid in the recovery of a strong and resilient economy.
“Accelerating Growth in Digital Payments – The Role of Partnerships” serves as the theme for the month-long campaign.
A variety of MTN management and personnel, traders, partner banks, and fintech organizations were present for the launch.
Eli Hini, CEO of MobileMoney Limited, discussed the theme’s relevance and credited the success of MTN MoMo to its long-standing strategic alliances and relationships with numerous stakeholders.
He disclosed that the business would keep investing in partnerships with stakeholders from many facets of the Ghanaian economy to develop shared value in order to give clients more value-added services. This would help to support Ghana’s digital economy even more.
He said, “For us, the future hinges on more partnerships because as market leaders we believe that the contribution of other players within the industry will help to drive and accelerate the development of the industry. We cannot do it alone. We need the support of other like-minded businesses who also see the future of this business as pivotal to the development of this country. We will continue to work together and drive digital financial services across the length and breadth of Ghana”.
Mr. Eli Hini further explained that “With digitization and innovation at the forefront, and consumers opting for fast and convenient ways to make payments and transactions, digital payments have come to stay. As MTN drives its platform agenda to create opportunities for others to leverage, MobileMoney Limited will continue to use its platform as a springboard for all in the digital payments, while delivering innovation and customer experience.”
He advised all customers to consider factors other than the E-Levy tax and take advantage of the tremendous advantages MoMo and, by extension, digital payments offer to the client in terms of ease and safety.
A number of initiatives, promotions, and events have been planned to honor MoMo month, including one where customers can earn extra money by using MoMo to make digital payments.
There will be market storms, digital fairs with SMEs, and the “Catch Them Young Series,” a brand-new and exciting financial literacy project that is being conducted in collaboration with educational institutions.
The introduction of the Central Bank Digital Currency, often known as E-Cedi, and the prospects it presents will also be the subject of a stakeholder meeting.
MoMo month has been observed yearly to raise awareness of the Mobile Money service since August 2012.
Additionally, it has been utilized to reward patrons, representatives, and business owners for consistently using and promoting the service. Mobile money was initially made available in West Africa in 2009 by MTN Ghana, a telecoms company.
The program has been crucial in advancing financial inclusion, fostering stable socioeconomic growth, and generating employment opportunities throughout the nation.
One of the most innovative items to enter the Ghanaian financial sector is still mobile money.
