A petition demanding the dismissal of Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, has been forwarded to him by Chief Justice Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkornoo for his reaction.
This came about in response to President Akufo-Addo’s plea for Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng’s dismissal, which was filed with the Chief Justice.
Akufo-Addo is urged to remove Mr. Agyebeng from his position in the petition, which was filed by former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu.
The April 30, 2024, petition alleges misbehavior involving judges and the administration of justice at Mr. Agyebeng, citing procurement problems in the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) vehicle acquisition.
The Chief Justice asked Mr. Agyebeng for his thoughts in a letter dated Thursday, May 16, in order to assist her in determining whether a prima facie case had been established.
“This is to forward to you a copy of the petition dated 30th April 2024 sent to the Office of the President which was forwarded to the Office of the Honourable Lady Chief Justice on 6th May 2024. Kindly provide your comments on the matters raised to enable the Honourable Chief Justice to determine if a prima facie case has been made out.”
