The National Security has been ordered by the High Court in Accra to look into the origin of audio recordings of the court sessions from last Thursday, June 13.
This was brought up today during the Attorney General’s (AG) cross-examination.
It came about after Alfred Atuah-Yeboah, the deputy attorney general, mentioned that a videotape of the proceedings from that day was becoming viral on social media.
Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe invited the parties concerned and withdrew into chambers following the request.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Yvonne Attakora Obuobisa, along with the two Deputy Attorneys General, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah and Diana Asonaba Dapaah, represented the prosecution.
Afterwards, chambers were also opened to the two accused, Richard Jakpa and Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
Thaddeus Sory and Dr. Abdul Basit Aziz Bamba represented the defense team.
Thaddeus Sory had returned from chambers and asked to speak briefly with Godfred Yeboah Dame, the Attorney General, who had already arrived.
Judge Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeal serving as an additional High Court justice, then ordered National Security to look into where the recordings came from.
The Court also issued a warning, stating that it would have to hold the sessions in camera if the behavior persisted.
An audio tape featuring the Attorney General and businessman Richard Jakpa was admitted into evidence by the trial judge in the ongoing ambulance case, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, on June 13.
