This Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the Minister of Finance is expected to go before Parliament to respond to a pressing inquiry over the National Cathedral project’s expenses from Patricia Appiagyei, the Deputy Majority Leader.
Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has stated that the Minister will be questioned about the National Cathedral project’s expenses and if a value-for-money audit has been carried out.
Deputy Majority Leader Appiagyei has demanded that the Minister appear in order to guarantee accountability for the National Cathedral’s usage of public funds.
To ensure accountability and transparency, the Minister is expected to clarify whether a value-for-money audit has been conducted and to offer detailed information on the project’s finances.
Majority Leader Afenyo-Markin made this declaration earlier on Friday, June 28, 2024, on the floor of Parliament.
Prior to the arrival of the Finance Minister, the Minority is requesting greater responsibility from the administration.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu Constituency, has urged the Speaker to uphold the House’s resolution to establish a bipartisan committee to investigate the project’s problems.
