Chef Ebenezer Smith, also referred to as Chef Smith, is a Ghanaian who falsely claimed the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Smith has since apologized in public.

Chef Smith displayed a certificate that he said demonstrated his record-breaking achievement during a press conference earlier this week in Accra.

But after verifying with Guinness World Records, Chef Smith’s certificate was found to be fake, which infuriated the public and sparked a backlash.

Chef Smith expressed his sincere regret in a heartfelt apology that was shared on Facebook on Saturday, July 6, 2024, as a teaser for an upcoming interview with Accra-based GHOne TV.

“I’m so sorry, I don’t deserve to live. I’m sorry and I beg the whole nation,” he said, visibly distressed.

The chef made a bogus claim, and the dispute that followed generated a lot of attention and heated discussion on social media.

Chef Smith considered the ramifications of his dishonesty, realizing the seriousness of his conduct.

He acknowledged in the interview, “I deeply regret my false claims, and my actions have landed me in trouble.”
