President Nana Akufo-Addo has encouraged recruits of the Youth Employment Authority (YEA) to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a ceremony in Kumasi, President Akufo-Addo urged the YEA recruits to support the NPP, citing the party’s commitment to creating jobs and improving the lives of Ghanaians.
The President’s statement comes after he announced that YEA recruits would be absorbed into the country’s security services, a move seen as a fulfillment of his campaign promise to the people.
Kofi Baah Agyepong, the CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has revealed that 8,500 youths in the Ashanti Region are presently employed by the organization.
These recipients participate in a number of programs, such as Youth in Afforestation and Community Protection Assistance.
Speaking on Wednesday at the YEA’s inaugural Beneficiaries Forum in the Ashanti Region, Agyepong emphasized the organization’s initiatives to assist the youth in the region.
He disclosed that the government has given 143 small enterprises financial support totaling more than two million cedis through YEA.
With the little over GH¢18,500 that each of these enterprises got, they were able to grow and hire additional youths.
He said that the project exemplifies YEA’s dedication to fostering business in the Ashanti Region and empowering youth.
