Kwasi Asante has been reassigned as the Director of Passports by Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The appointment became official on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Asante served as Ghana’s ambassador to Ethiopia, serving as the Chargė D’affaires from May 2024.
From June 2021 to August 2024, he also held the position of Deputy Ambassador/DPR.
“The honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has decided that you should be re-assigned to the Passport Office as the Director of Passports with effect from Monday, 19th August, 2024.
“You are, therefore, requested to take steps to undergo the required handing over process to enable you assume duty,” the letter reportedly from the Ministry read in parts.
Mr. Asante will oversee the management and administration of the passport issue process in accordance with his new position.
In order to guarantee adherence to international passport standards and laws, he will also collaborate closely with government organizations, such as immigration and national security.
Mr. Asante was the Director of Operations at the Passport Office from April 2020 to June 2021 before to moving to Addis Ababa.
From June 2018 until April 2020, he also worked as the Executive Assistant for the ECOWAS Commission.
