A nine-member presidential debate committee has been established by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in an effort to interact with political parties as the general elections of 2024 draw near.
The institution had earlier said that discussions for the vice presidency and presidency will take place in October and November, respectively.
Among those on the committee are Justice Sophia Akuffo, Rev. Father Charles Boampong Sarfo, Dr. Humphrey Ayim-Darke, Dr. Abukari Mohammed Marzaq Azindoo, and Most Reverend Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo.
In her remarks to the media, committee chair Justice Sophia Akuffo stated that the group was prepared to get started on its work and guarantee that political parties will be included.
“The presidential debate committee is to enhance the credibility of the debate process by making it more people-centred and issue-based. Specifically, the date aims to achieve a unique platform for presidential candidates to outline their policies and visions of governance for the country.
“To inform and empower citizens to make informed decisions at the elections. To promote peace, before, during and after the elections” Justice Sophia Akuffo stated.
