Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made severe charges against appointees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government, accusing them of stealing public monies and hiding the proceeds in their houses.

Speaking on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, on Accra 100.5 FM’s morning news as part of his tour of the Eastern Region’s Akwapim South district, Mr. Nketia asserted that some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government have allegedly stolen so much money that they are afraid to deposit it in banks for fear of being discovered by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

He disclosed that they were unable to take the pilfered money abroad as they would be detained upon landing in a foreign country.

Because of this, these appointees are stuck, and their only choice is to keep the money hidden at home.

“The money they have looted is so much that they can’t take it to the banks because EOCO will be on their necks.

So, they are stashing it in their homes—in flower pots, water tanks, and other hidden places,” Nketia asserted.

He issued a warning, saying that these illicit monies may be used to purchase votes as the nation gets closer to the 2024 elections, hoping to retain the NPP in power and carry on with their purported resource thievery.

“I want to urge you all to be vigilant. If they offer you money during the elections, remember it is your money. Take it, but vote against them,” Nketia stated.
